Dr. Christopher Pirie, co-founder of HDT and Chief Operating Officer, earned his PhD in Biological Engineering from MIT where he researched protein engineering for oncology biotherapeutics. In 2011 he co-founded Manus Bio, a synthetic biology company developing sustainable chemical manufacturing methods where he built and ran the enzyme engineering team while leading intellectual property development. Then, in 2016 he co-founded Virvio, a biopharmaceutical company focused on designer mini-proteins for respiratory diseases like influenza. There, he led grants administration, business development, and financing. Dr. Pirie also coaches global entrepreneurship bootcamps around the world with MIT Sloan Business School.
